A money market account is a deposit investment with a bank or mutual fund company. This account guarantees the security of the sum you invest and offers a competitive interest rate plus immediate access to your money. In fact, a money market account is similar to a savings account, but with a generally higher interest rate. However, you may have a limit on how much money you can withdraw per month, and you are usually required to maintain a minimum balance. Money deposited in a bank's money market account is insured by the government for up to one hundred thousand dollars. For more information on money market accounts and other types of investments, contact your bank or financial advisor.
