Lubbock is close to landing a 100-thousand dollar grant to create its first dog park, but disagreement over where to put it could take the city out of the running.

Some residents around Stumpy Hamilton park told City Council members they don't want it to be the designated pooch park. Lubbock has to submit a site by June 13th to stay in the nationwide petsafe.net online contest.

The city is the top vote-getter so far. The Council will consider other potential dog park locations at its next meeting.
